Certificate of U.S. Citizenship
Citizenship Certificate Start Application for Certificate of U.S. Citizenship
What is a Certificate of U.S. Citizenship: The Certificate of Citizenship (form N-560 or N-561) is proof of an individual having obtained U.S. citizenship. The Certificate of Citizenship is a document that is issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS).  U.S. citizens who have been issued a Naturalization Certificate that has been lost, mutilated, destroyed or the name has been changed and need the certificate in the new name.

Citizenship of the United States can be obtained through derivation or acquisition at birth. For example, your U.S. citizen parents were living in Canada when you were born. Or, your parents became naturalized when you were under 18 years of age and met the special conditions of the law.

The "Certificate of U.S. Citizenship Application Guide" was developed to help United States citizens complete and file their own requests for a copy of their Certificate of United States Citizenship. The "Certificate of U.S. Citizenship Application Guide" is a step-by-step-guide that will help you file your request as efficiently and quickly as possible. You should only apply for a replacement certificate if your current certificate of Citizenship is lost, mutilated, or destroyed, or if your name has changed since the last certificate was issued, and you need a copy with the new name.

Important: Only United States citizens can obtain a copy of their Certificates of Citizenship. If you are not a United States citizen, you must first apply for US citizenship.

Filing Fees: The USCIS increased the application filing fee for the Certificate of Citizenship to $460 on July 30, 2007. The $460 filing fee is paid directly to the USCIS.
